عزم محکم ممکنات اندیش ازوھمت عالی تأمل کیش ازو
English translation
Purpose most resolute. When fear attends, thinks upon what may be,
and lofty zeal to circumspection yields.

اس سے عزم محکم تشکیک کا شکار ہو جاتا ہے اور ہمت عالی تذبذب میں پڑ جاتی ہے۔
About this couplet
This is couplet 16 of 31 in “در معنی اینکہ یأس و حزن و خوف ام الحبا ئث است و قاطع حیات، و توحید ازالۂ این امراض خبیثہ می کند” (That Despair, Grief and Fear are the Mother of Abominations, destroying Life; end that Belief in Unity of God puts an end to those Foul Diseases) in the section The Pillars of Islam, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (رموزِ بیخودی), published in 1918.
