ہر شر پنہان کہ اندر قلب تستاصل او بیم است اگر بینی درست
English translation
Whatever evil lurks within thy heart thou canst be certain that its origin is fear:
Urdu translation
تیرے دل کے اندر جو بھی برائی پنہاں ہے؛ اگر تو غور سے دیکھے تو اس کی بنیاد خوف ہے۔

This is couplet 27 of 31 in “در معنی اینکہ یأس و حزن و خوف ام الحبا ئث است و قاطع حیات، و توحید ازالۂ این امراض خبیثہ می کند” (That Despair, Grief and Fear are the Mother of Abominations, destroying Life; end that Belief in Unity of God puts an end to those Foul Diseases) in the section The Pillars of Islam, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (رموزِ بیخودی), published in 1918.
