قوم را ربط و نظام از مرکزیروزگارش را دوام از مرکزی
English translation
Peoples win their bond and order from a focus,
and that same perpetuates the nation’s sum of days.
Urdu translation
قوم کا ربط اور نظام مرکز سے وابستہ ہے؛ مرکز ہی سے اس کی زندگی کو دوام حاصل ہوتا ہے۔

This is couplet 23 of 45 in “در معنی اینکہ حیات ملیہ مرکز محسوس میخواہد و مرکز ملت اسلامیہ بیت الحرام است” (That The Life Of The Community Requires A Visible Focus, And That The Focus Of The Islamic Community Is Makkah’s Sacred Home) in the section The Pillars of Islam, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (رموزِ بیخودی), published in 1918.
