ہمچو گل در گلستان خوددار شوبہر نشر بو پی گلچین مرو
English translation
Be self-contained like the rose in the garden; do not go to the florist in order to spread thy perfume!

Urdu translation
باغ میں پھول کی طرح خود دار رہ؛ اپنی خوشبو پھیلانے کے لیے گلچیں کے پیچھے نہ بھاگ۔ (نہیں یہ شان خود داری چمن سے توڑ کر تجھ کو، کوئی دستار میں رکھ لے کوئی زیب گلو کر لے)۔

This is couplet 32 of 44 in “حکایت شیخ و برہمن و مکالمہ گنگ و ہمالہ در معنی اینکہ تسلسل حیات ملیہ از محکم گرفتن روایات مخصوصہ ملیہ می باشد” (Story of the Sheikh and the Brahmin, followed by a conversation between Ganges and Himalayas to the effect that the continuation of social life depends on firm attachment to the characteristic traditions of the community), from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Asrar-e-Khudi (اسرارِ خودی), published in 1915.
