پرواز

کہا درخت نے اک روز مرغ صحرا سےستم پہ غم کدئہ رنگ و بو کی ہے بنیاد

The tree said to a bird of the desert one day: ‘Creation is founded on the principle of injustice;

خدا مجھے بھی اگر بال و پر عطا کرتاشگفتہ اور بھی ہوتا یہ عالم ایجاد

For the Creation could have been so much more pleasant if I had also been granted the gift of flight.’

دیا جواب اسے خوب مرغ صحرا نےغضب ہے، داد کو سمجھا ہوا ہے تو بیداد!

The bird gave him a good reply: ‘Woe! You regard justice to be injustice;

جہاں میں لذت پرواز حق نہیں اس کاوجود جس کا نہیں جذب خاک سے آزاد

He is not entitled to fly in this world, whoever is not free from earth-rootedness.’
