بلال

لکھا ہے ایک مغربی حق شناس نےاہل قلم میں جس کا بہت احترام تھا

A righteous Western writer has written; who was highly respected among the literateur:

جولاں گہ سکندر رومی تھا ایشیاگردوں سے بھی بلند تر اس کا مقام تھا

‘Asia was the marshaling place of Sikandar of Rome; his status was more elegant than even the sky.

تاریخ کہہ رہی ہے کہ رومی کے سامنےدعوی کیا جو پورس و دارا نے، خام تھا

History attests that in combat with the Romans the claims of Porus and Dara were vain.

دنیا کے اس شہنشہ انجم سپاہ کوحیرت سے دیکھتا فلک نیل فام تھا

At this emperor with the myriad-man army the blue sky was looking with amazement.

آج ایشیا میں اس کو کوئی جانتا نہیںتاریخ دان بھی اسے پہچانتا نہیں

Today nobody knows him in Asia; even the historian does not recognize him.

لیکن بلال، وہ حبشی زادئہ حقیرفطرت تھی جس کی نور نبوت سے مستنیر

But Bilal (R.A.), that humble person with Negroid origin, whose nature had been brightened by the Prophethood’s (S.A.W.) Light.

جس کا امیں ازل سے ہوا سینہء بلالمحکوم اس صدا کے ہیں شاہنشہ و فقیر

The call whose custodian the breast of Bilal since eternity,* became subservient to which call emperors as well as the indigent became!
* Allusion to Azan.

ہوتا ہے جس سے اسود و احمر میں اختلاطکرتی ہے جو غریب کو ہم پہلوئے امیر

Which brings amity between the black and the red; by which the poor and the rich are placed together.

ہے تازہ آج تک وہ نوائے جگر گدازصدیوں سے سن رہا ہے جسے گوش چرخ پیر

That heart-melting song is fresh till the present age; which the old sky’s ear has been hearing for centuries.’

اقبال! کس کے عشق کا یہ فیض عام ہےرومی فنا ہوا، حبشی کو دوام ہے

Iqbal! This general blessing is due to whose love? The Roman has perished, the Negro is immortal!
