خوگر پیکار پیہم دیدمشہم خودی ھم زندگی نامیدش
English translation
I have beheld its wont is strife incessant,
and have called its name Selfhood, and Life.
Urdu translation
میں نے اسے مسلسل جدو جہد میں دیکھا ہے؛ میں اسے خودی بھی کہتا ہوں اور زندگی بھی۔

This is couplet 28 of 34 in “تمہید: در معنی ربط فرد و ملت” (Prelude: Of The Bond Between Individual And Community) in the section Dedication to the Muslim Community, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (رموزِ بیخودی), published in 1918.
