English translation

Why does the flame shrink away from the stubble? Why is the lightning-flash afraid to strike?

شعلے کو خس و خاشاک جلانے سے پرہیز کیوں ہو، بجلی کو گرنے سے کیا خوف۔

This is couplet 27 of 57 in “⁨مناجات⁩” (Supplication), from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Javid Nama (⁨جاوید نامہ⁩), published in 1932.
