English translation
And East wasted by the West’s imperialism, Communism taken the lustre from religion and community.
Urdu translation
مشرق اہل مغرب کی حکومت سے برباد ہو چکا ہے اور اشتراکیت نے دین و ملّت کی تاب و تواں ختم کر دی ہے۔

This is couplet 38 of 38 in “زیارت ارواح جمال الدین افغانی و سعید حلیم پاشا” (The Sphere Of Mercury: Visitation to the spirits of Jamal al-Din Afghani and Sa‘id Halim Pasha) in the section The Sphere of Mecury, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Javid Nama (جاوید نامہ), published in 1932.
