ور عقاب استی تہ دریا مزیجز بخلوت خانہ ی صحرا مزی
English translation
Art thou an eagle? Do not live at ocean’s bottom; in the solitude of the unpeopled desert make thy home.
Urdu translation
اور اگر تو عقاب ہے تو دریا کی تہ میں نہ رہ صرف صحرا کے خلوت خانہ میں زندگی بسر کر۔

This is couplet 32 of 43 in “در معنی اینکہ حسن سیرت ملیہ از تأدب بہ داب محمدیہ است” (That A Good Communal Character Derives From Discipline According To The Manners Of The Prophet (S.A.W)) in the section The Pillars of Islam, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (رموزِ بیخودی), published in 1918.
