عقل و دل

عقل نے ایک دن یہ دل سے کہابھولے بھٹکے کی رہنما ہوں میں

One day Intellect said to the heart: ‘A guide to the misguided ones I am.

ہوں زمیں پر، گزر فلک پہ مرادیکھ تو کس قدر رسا ہوں میں

Being on the earth I reach up to the sky; look, how deep in comprehension I am.

کام دنیا میں رہبری ہے مرامثل خضر خجستہ پا ہوں میں

Guidance on earth is my sole occupation; like the auspicious Khizar (A.S.) in character I am.

ہوں مفسر کتاب ہستی کیمظہر شان کبریا ہوں میں

Interpreter of the book of life I am. The Manifestation of God's Glory I am.

بوند اک خون کی ہے تو لیکنغیرت لعل بے بہا ہوں میں

You are only a drop of blood, but the invaluable ruby's envy I am.’

دل نے سن کر کہا یہ سب سچ ہےپر مجھے بھی تو دیکھ، کیا ہوں میں

Hearing this, the heart said: ‘All this is true. But look at me as well, what I am.

راز ہستی کو تو سمجھتی ہےاور آنکھوں سے دیکھتا ہوں میں

You understand the secrets of life, but seeing them with my own eyes I am.

ہے تجھے واسطہ مظاہر سےاور باطن سے آشنا ہوں میں

Concerned with the manifest order you are and acquainted with the inward I am.

علم تجھ سے تو معرفت مجھ سےتو خدا جو، خدا نما ہوں میں

Learning is from you, but Divine Knowledge is from me; you only seek Divinity, but showing Divinity I am.

علم کی انتہا ہے بے تابیاس مرض کی مگر دوا ہوں میں

Restlessness is the end of Knowledge*, but the remedy for that malady I am.
* Knowledge does not lead to the comprehension of the Essence of God. It only confuses the seeker between the different explanations offered by different scholars. On the other hand the heart guides one to the final goal.)

شمع تو محفل صداقت کیحسن کی بزم کا دیا ہوں میں

You are the candle of the assembly of Truth; the lamp of the Divine Beauty's assemblage I am.

تو زمان و مکاں سے رشتہ بپاطائر سدرہ آشنا ہوں میں

You are related to time and space; the bird recognizing the Sidrah I am.

کس بلندی پہ ہے مقام مراعرش رب جلیل کا ہوں میں

Look at the grandeur of my station; the throne of the God of Majesty I am.
