من بہ رومی گفتم این صحرا خوش استدر کہستان شورش دریا خوش است
English translation
I said to Rumi, ‘This wasteland is very fair, very fair the tumult of the waters in the mountains.
Urdu translation
میں نے رومی (رحمتہ اللہ) سے کہا یہ صحرا بہت خوش منظر ہے ؛ پہاڑوں میں دریا کا شور خوش آئیند ہے۔
About this couplet
This is couplet 10 of 38 in “زیارت ارواح جمال الدین افغانی و سعید حلیم پاشا” (The Sphere Of Mercury: Visitation to the spirits of Jamal al-Din Afghani and Sa‘id Halim Pasha) in the section The Sphere of Mecury, from Allama Muhammad Iqbal's Persian book Javid Nama (جاوید نامہ), published in 1932.
