English translation
For all my keen insight into the ways of faith, I am slow-footed;* all my work is incomplete and what to me appears mature is unripe,
* Iqbal’s statement: ‘I have given the best part of my life to a careful study of Islam, its laws and polity, its culture, its history and its literature. This constant contact with the spirit of Islam, as it unfolds itself in time, has, I think, given me a kind of insight into its significance as a world-fact.’
Translated by Bashir Ahmad Dar
