عاشق آن نیست کہ لب گرم فغانی دارد
عشق ناپید و خرد می گزدش صورت مارگرچہ در کاسۂ زر لعل روانی دارد
English translation
Love he knows not, and the brain snake like bites into his vein, even though his golden cup flowing ruby filleth up.

عشق ناپید ہے اور خرد اسے سانپ کی مانند ڈس رہی ہے، حالانکہ وہ جام زرّیں میں شراب ارغواں رکھتا ہے۔
