گرچہ میدانم کہ روزی بی نقاب آید برون
ضربتی باید کہ جان خفتہ برخیزد ز خاکنالہ کی بی زخمہ از تار رباب آید برون
English translation
It needs a blow, to stir the sleeping soul from earth unswept, the harp can ne’er bring melody to birth.

ضرب ایسی ہونی چاہئے جس سے جان خفتہ بدن کے اندر بیدار ہو جائے۔ مضراب کے بغیر تار رباب سے نالہ کیسے باہر آ سکتا ہے!
