در معنی اینکہ ملت از اختلاط افراد پیدا میشود و تکمیل تربیت او از نبوت است

از چہ رو بر بستہ ربط مردم استرشتہ ی این داستان سر در گم است

Upon what manner man is bound to man:
That tale’s a thread, the end whereof is lost beyond unraveling.

در جماعت فرد را بینیم مااز چمن او را چو گل چینیم ما

We can descry he individual within the Mass, and we can pluck him as a flower is plucked out of the garden.

فطرتش وارفتہ ی یکتائی استحفظ او از انجمن آرائی است

All his nature is entranced with individuality,
yet only in Society he finds security and preservation.

سوزدش در شاہراہ زندگیآتش آوردگاہ زندگی

On the road of life, the furnace of life’s fire,
that roaring battlefield, sets him aflame.

مردمان خوگر بیکدیگر شوندسفتہ در یک رشتہ چون گوہر شوند

Men grow habituated each to each, like jewels threaded on a single cord;

در نبرد زندگی یار ھمندمثل ہمکاران گرفتار ہمند

Succors each other in the war of life in mutual bond, like workmen bent upon a common task.

محفل انجم ز جذب باہم استہستی کوکب ز کوکب محکم است

Through such polarity the constellations congregate, each star in several attraction keeping each poised firmly and unshaken.

خیمہ گاہ کاروان کوہ و جبلمرغزار و دامن صحرا و تل

Caravans may pitch their tents on mountain or on hill, broad meadow, fringe of desert, sandy mound.

سست و بیجان تار و پود کار اونا گشودہ غنچہ ی پندار او

Yet slack and lifeless hangs the warp and woof of the Group’s labour,
unresolved the bud of its deep meditation;

ساز برق آہنگ او ننواختہنغمہ اش در پردہ نا پرداختہ

Still unplayed the flickering levin of its instrument, its music hushed within its muted strings;

گوشمال جستجو نا خوردہ ئیزخمہ ہای آرزو نا خوردہ ئی

Unsmitten by the pounding of the quest, the plectrum of desire; disordered still;

نا بسامان محفل نوزادہ اشمی توان با پنبہ چیدن بادہ اش

Its new-born concourse, and so thin its wine as to be blotted up with cotton flock;

نو دمیدہ سبزہ ی خاکش ہنوزسرد خون اندر رگ تاکش ہنوز

New-sprung the verdure of its soil, and cold the blood in its vine’s veins; a habitat.

منزل دیو و پری اندیشہ اشاز گمان خود رمیدن پیشہ اش

Of demons and of fairy sprites its thoughts,
so that it leaps in terror from the shapes conjured by its own surmise; shrunk the scope.

تنگ میدان ہستی خامش ہنوزفکر او زیر لب بامش ہنوز

Of its crude life, its narrow thoughts confined beneath the rim of its constricting roof; fear for its life the meagre stock-in-trade.

بیم جان سرمایہ ی آب و گلشہم ز باد تند می لرزد دلش

Of its constituent elements; its heart trembling before the whistle of the wind.

جان او از سخت کوشی رم زندپنچہ در دامان فطرت کم زند

Its spirit shies away from arduous toil, little disposed to pluck at Nature’s skirt;

ہر چہ از خود می دمد برداردشہر چہ از بالا فتد برداردش

But whatsoever springs of its own self or falls from heaven, that it gathers up.

تا خدا صاحبدلی پیدا کندکو ز حرفی دفتری املا کند

Till God discovers a man pure of heart in His good time, who in a single word.

ساز پردازی کہ از آوازہ ئیخاک را بخشد حیات تازہ ئی

A volume shall rehearse;
a minstrel he whose piercing music gives new life to dust.

ذرہ ی بے مایہ ضو گیرد ازوہر متاعی ارج نو گیرد ازو

Through him the unsubstantial atom glows radiant with life, the meanest merchandise takes on new worth.

زندہ از یک دم دو صد پیکر کندمحفلی رنگین ز یک ساغر کند

Out of his single breath two hundred bodies quicken; with one glass he livens an assembly.

دیدہ ی او می کشد لب جان دمدتا دوئی میرد یکی پیدا شود

His bright glance slays, but forthwith his single uttered word bestows new life, that so Duality expiring, Unity may come to birth.

رشتہ اش کو بر فلک دارد سریپارہای زندگی را ہمگری

His thread, whose end is knotted to the skies, weaves all together life’s dissevered parts.

تازہ انداز نظر پیدا کندگلستان در دشت و در پیدا کند

Revealing a new vista to the gaze, he can convert broad desert and bare vale into a garden.

از تف او ملتی مثل سپندبر جہد شور افکن و ہنگامہ بند

At his fiery breath a people leap like rue upon a fire in sudden tumult;

یک شرر می افکند اندر دلششعلہ ی در گیر می گردد گلش

In their heart one spark caught from his kindling
and their sullen clay breaks instantly aflame.

نقش پایش خاک را بینا کندذرہ را چشمک زن سینا کند

Where’er he treads the earth receiving vision,
every mote may wink the eye at Moses’ Sinai.

عقل عریان را دہد پیرایہ ئیبخشد این بے مایہ را سرمایہ ئی

The naked understanding he adorns, with wealth abundant fills its indigence;

دامن خود میزند بر اخگرشہر چہ غش باشد رباید از زرش

Fans with his skirts its embers, purifies its gold of every particle of dross.

بندہا از پا گشاید بندہ رااز خداوندان رباید بندہ را

He strikes the shackles from the fettered slave, redeems him from his masters;

گویدش تو بندہ ی دیگر نہ ئیزین بتان بے زبان کمتر نہ ئی

And declares: ‘No other’s slave thou art, nor any less than those mute idols.’

تا سوی یک مدعایش می کشدحلقہ ی آئین بپایش می کشد

So unto one goal drawing each on,
he circumscribes the feet of all within the circle of one Law;

نکتہ ی توحید باز آموزدشرسم و آئین نیاز آموزدش

Reschools them in God’s wondrous Unity, and teaches them the habit and the use of self-surrender to the Will Divine.
